1. How did you choose your topic?
I selected Nadia Comaneci as my topic because I am a gymnast and I have been very interested in her since I was little. My coaches always told us to be as perfect as Nadia Comaneci. I always wanted to know how a normal person could become such a big influence in just a matter of seconds. I knew that she would fit into the topic perfectly because she was such a great leader with a huge legacy. 2. How did you conduct your research? To start my research, I went on Google and searched “Nadia Comaneci”. The first website that popped up was www.bartandnadia.com, so I went on that website and saw that it was a website Nadia and her husband, Bart, had created about their lives. I then continued to look for other websites about her. I found many biographies about her and I learned a lot. My librarian told me to see if I could find any newspaper or magazine articles about her. I searched and found four great articles about her. Later, I looked to see if there were any books about her. I found a book that she wrote called Letters to a Young Gymnast. While reading that, I learned so much about her point of view of the situation. That book gave me so much primary information to use in my website. That book definitely was my best primary source. 3. How did you select your presentation category? I decided to do a website because I have always been interested in technology. I also wanted to do a website because I really wanted to include many pictures and videos in my presentation. The way I created my website was by going on weebly and finding a template that I really liked. I wanted it to be simple but not boring. At first, I had to get used to working with weebly because I had never done so before. After that, I typed my information, added my pictures and arranged it all the way I wanted. 4. How does your project relate to the NHD theme? Nadia Comaneci fits into the theme Leadership and Legacy because she became a leader when she scored the first ever perfect ten. She is a leader to younger gymnasts and a symbol to show that even the poor can do amazing things. She does lots of volunteer work and helps others. She fits into the legacy part of it because being the first person to score a perfect ten is a great legacy and people look up to her for it. |
